STRUCTURAL RENOVATION · NASSAU COUNTY
Nassau County’s Structural Renovation & Custom Finishing Experts
Creatively Done Homes Improvements has been transforming Nassau County homes since 1986. We handle what most contractors won’t — load-bearing wall removal, structural beam installation, permit coordination, and estate-grade custom millwork — delivering open-concept living spaces that are engineered to code and finished to last.
WHY WE’RE DIFFERENT · STRUCTURAL + FINISH QUALITY
What Sets Creatively Done Apart from Every Other Nassau County Contractor
Most contractors do either structural work or finish work. We do both at the highest level — and that combination changes what’s possible for your home.
Engineered Open-Concept Conversions
Opening up a 1960s ranch or split-level isn’t about swinging a sledgehammer — it’s structural engineering. We calculate load paths, specify the correct LVL beam (laminated veneer lumber — the engineered wood that replaces your load-bearing wall), coordinate with a licensed PE for stamped drawings, and install everything to current IRC building code. The result is a wide-open floor plan with proper structural support hidden above your ceiling line.
Complete Room Renovations & Custom Built-Ins
Not every project needs a steel beam — sometimes you need a dated room brought back to life. We handle full room renovations, custom closet build-outs, wall-outs to reconfigure layouts, new flooring, updated trim, and anything else that transforms how a space looks and functions. Kevin and Matthew do the same quality finish work on a closet remodel as they do on a full structural renovation. Whether it’s refinishing an existing room or building something from scratch, the craftsmanship is the same.
Estate-Grade Custom Millwork
After the structural work is done, we don’t hand you off to a finish carpenter. Kevin and Matthew build custom millwork in-house — floor-to-ceiling wainscoting, built-in cabinetry, fireplace surrounds with integrated mantels, and crown molding profiles matched to your home’s original architectural style. This is the kind of detail work you’d find in North Shore estates, delivered at a fair price for any Nassau County homeowner.

ABOUT US · FATHER & SON TEAM
Kevin & Matthew — 40 Years of Building Nassau County Right
Kevin has been in the construction trade since 1986 — nearly four decades working on Long Island homes. He started in structural framing, learned the engineering side of renovation, and built a reputation across Nassau County as the contractor you call when the job involves more than cosmetics. His son Matthew now works alongside him, bringing the same hands-on approach to every project.
Together, they handle everything from the initial structural assessment through the final coat of finish on custom millwork. No subcontractor handoffs for the critical work. When Kevin tells you an LVL beam needs to be a certain size, it’s because he’s calculated the load path himself — not because he read it in a catalog.
Structural Engineering Knowledge
Load-bearing wall identification, beam sizing, load path analysis, and coordination with licensed professional engineers for stamped structural drawings.
Documented Permit History
Active permit records with the Town of Oyster Bay, Town of Hempstead, and multiple Nassau County villages. Every structural modification is permitted, inspected, and documented.
In-House Finish Quality
Custom millwork built and installed by Kevin and Matthew — not farmed out to a subcontractor. The same hands that engineer your structural changes also craft your finish details. See our full bio →

SERVICE AREA · NASSAU COUNTY COMMUNITIES
Nassau County Communities We Serve
We maintain active permit history and documented project records across central Nassau County and the North Shore. Each community has its own housing stock, building department, and renovation challenges — and we know them all.
Plainview — Kitchen & Structural Remodeling
Plainview’s 1950s-60s ranches and split-levels were built with central load-bearing walls that divide kitchens from living rooms. We remove these walls with properly engineered LVL beams, creating the open floor plans today’s families need — all permitted through the Town of Oyster Bay building department.
Hicksville — Home Renovations & Millwork
As our home base on Jerusalem Avenue, we know Hicksville’s housing stock inside and out. From updating post-war Cape Cods with modern kitchens and bathrooms to adding custom millwork that transforms a builder-grade home into something with real character — we’ve been doing it here for decades.
Syosset — Bathroom Remodeling & Custom Finishing
Syosset homeowners expect a higher level of finish quality. Our custom tile work, frameless glass shower enclosures, and built-in vanity millwork meet that standard. We coordinate plumbing relocation with licensed plumbers and handle structural modifications when master bath expansions require moving walls.
Jericho — Whole-Home Remodeling
Jericho’s mix of ranches, Colonials, and bi-levels from the 1960s-70s gives us a wide range of structural challenges. We’ve opened up closed floor plans, converted basements, and modernized homes throughout the community — all permitted through the Town of Oyster Bay.

FREQUENTLY ASKED · YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Common Questions About Home Renovation in Nassau County
Do I need a permit to remove a wall in my Nassau County home?
Yes, if the wall is load-bearing, you need a building permit from your local building department — typically the Town of Oyster Bay or Town of Hempstead, depending on your community. The permit requires structural engineering drawings showing how loads will be redistributed, usually through an LVL beam or steel I-beam. Kevin identifies what permits are needed and coordinates with a licensed professional engineer for stamped drawings. Most homeowners file the application themselves — or we can connect you with an expediter. Most wall removal permits in Nassau County take 2-4 weeks for approval.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Nassau County in 2026?
A mid-range kitchen remodel in Nassau County typically runs $35,000 to $75,000 in 2026, depending on scope. If structural work is involved — like removing a load-bearing wall to create an open concept — add $8,000 to $15,000 for engineering, beams, and permits. The biggest cost variables are cabinetry (stock vs. custom), countertop material (laminate vs. quartz vs. natural stone), and whether plumbing or electrical needs to be relocated. We provide a detailed written estimate after an in-home assessment — no surprises.
How long does a typical home renovation take?
A bathroom remodel typically takes 3-5 weeks. A kitchen remodel runs 6-10 weeks. Whole-home renovations with structural modifications can take 10-16 weeks depending on scope. Permit approval adds 2-4 weeks before construction starts. We build a detailed timeline during the planning phase and keep you updated at every stage. Nassau County inspections are scheduled proactively so there are no unnecessary delays waiting for sign-offs.
How do I know if a wall is load-bearing?
In most Nassau County post-war homes — ranches, split-levels, and Colonials — the central wall running parallel to the roof ridge is load-bearing. Walls perpendicular to floor joists are typically load-bearing. However, the only way to know for certain is a structural assessment. Kevin inspects the framing from the basement or crawlspace, checks joist direction and bearing points, and can tell you definitively which walls carry structural loads. This assessment is part of our free estimate.
What is an LVL beam and why do I need one?
An LVL (laminated veneer lumber) beam is an engineered wood product that’s significantly stronger than traditional lumber. When we remove a load-bearing wall, the LVL beam takes over that wall’s structural job — transferring roof and floor loads to new bearing points at each end of the opening. LVL beams are specified by size based on the span length and the loads they need to carry. A licensed professional engineer calculates the exact size required for your specific home. This is code-required for any structural wall removal in Nassau County.
Why should I choose Creatively Done over other Nassau County contractors?
Most contractors specialize in either structural work or finish work — rarely both. Kevin has been doing both since 1986. That means the same team that engineers your wall removal and installs your structural beams also builds your custom millwork, installs your tile, and finishes your trim. There’s no handoff between a framing crew and a finish carpenter, which means better quality control and fewer miscommunications. We’re also father and son — Kevin and Matthew are personally on every job, not managing crews from a truck.
